Ajay Singh
I run Mould and Damp on my own, as a sole trader. I don't survey houses, treat walls or fit fans, and I'm not going to pretend the guides come from years on the tools.
Why I run it
People with a damp wall usually want two things: to know what's causing it, and to speak to one person who can look at it properly. A lot of what comes up in a search either sells a treatment or hands your number to several firms. I wanted a site that explains the causes plainly and only passes an enquiry to one specialist. There's more on that on the about page.
What the site is
It's a free matching service, not a contractor. Each enquiry goes to one independent specialist who covers the area, and they quote you directly. I don't vet, accredit or insure them. Specialists may pay for the enquiries they get, and you pay nothing to use the site.
How sources are checked
- Legal dates and rules are taken from gov.uk or legislation.gov.uk and linked next to where they're used. Anything that isn't law yet is labelled as proposed or not yet in force.
- Prices come from named cost guides, with the date of each guide. They're due a re-check every six months.
- Health information follows the government's guidance on damp and mould, which the NHS website now points to.
- If a site refuses a normal request, it isn't used as a source. The fact gets a different source or comes off the page.
- Pages show the date their facts were last checked.
